LSF BEGINNING I

- Level and Prerequisite: None! If you have taken Spanish before but can't speak yet this class is for you!
- In order to receive your class curriculum timely it is recommended to register before the last week of open registration.

- Live on-line highly interactive Zoom classes
- Students will speak Spanish in present tense using TPRS interactive method
- Required Spanish novel: Pobre Ana Paperback novel $8 AND Audio Ebook $5

- Beginning II Spanish builds on the skills learned in Beginning I, it is highly recommended although it is not a perquisite
- Acquire the 100+ highest frequency words & the top 30 verbs in Spanish through storytelling, actions, and read a Spanish novel at 80% comprehension & carry on simple conversations
- Gain a greater understanding and appreciation of the culture of the Spanish-speaking world
- Present tense verbs, subject and verb placement, cultural music, everyday expressions, and compound sentences enabling reading & speaking
- Homework 1 hr/week and can include reading, writing, and comprehension activities
- It is highly recommended that students take BEG I & BEG II sequentially to achieve a basic level of skill

- Students watch short comprehensible videos in Spanish about Costa Rica to increase oral fluency
- Read & hold your own in small group discussions reading a short comprehensible novel and have fun while learning Spanish!
- Focus is on reinforcing present-tense, past-tense, and some subjunctive!

- Prerequisite: Students must be able to use the novel’s vocabulary phrases when they speak using past tense verbs in conversation groups

- Watch short comprehensible videos in Spanish about novel content to increase your fluency
- Read and discuss in small groups a short novel and have fun while learning Spanish!
- Learn all about Mexico City & Mexico's cultural heritage and art
- Focus is on past tense & subjunctive, and tense switching
- Homework takes about 1 hr/week and can be reading, writing, and comprehension activities
- This course is divided into Part 1, 5 weeks, and Part II, 5 weeks. Students may choose to enroll for any part independently.
